Broadcasters worry new Trai order on Free Dish channels will hurt business

TRAI has announced that any pay channel available for free on DD Free Dish, the direct-to-home platform owned by public broadcaster Prasar Bharati, must also be made free-to-air on other distribution platforms like Tata Play and Dish TV to ensure a level playing field.

In an article published by LiveMint, I note that these changes come in response to significant industry concerns that OTT platforms and free dish operators face fewer restrictions, thus gaining an unfair advantage over traditional cable operators.
