The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has issued a consultation paper, laying the foundation for regulating fractional ownership platforms under the Micro, Small, Medium (MSM) Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) framework.

As the number of such fractional ownership platforms expand and significant amounts of retail investors’ funds are invested in them, it is important to inculcate transparency, financial discipline, and accountability by fostering a regulated environment for enhancing investor confidence.
